Power in Pilates, Ayr — reformer Pilates classes and private sessions
Last updated: 12 July 2026
1. Who we are
Power in Pilates ("we", "us", "the studio") is a small reformer Pilates studio based at 1 Dongola Road, Ayr, KA7 3BH, run by Dympna Haywood. These Terms & Conditions apply whenever you book or attend a class, private session, or specialist session with us, whether booked online through our Acuity Scheduling system or arranged directly with Dympna.
By booking a session, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms.
2. Bookings and payment
All bookings are made through our online booking system (Acuity Scheduling), accessible via our website.
Sessions must be paid for at the time of booking, unless a specific membership or class-pack arrangement has been agreed directly with Dympna.
Prices for Small Group Reformer sessions are shown on our Services page and may be updated from time to time. Any price changes will not affect sessions already booked and paid for.
We reserve the right to decline or cancel a booking, for example where a class is full, where a health screening raises a concern, or where these Terms have not been met.
3. Cancellations and rescheduling
With only three reformer beds, a late cancellation has a real impact on other clients and on Dympna's ability to fill the space.
We ask for a minimum of 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a session.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice or missed sessions ("no-shows"), will be charged in full / will forfeit the session, except where credit is offered at Dympna's discretion for exceptional circumstances.
We understand that life happens. Where possible, and within reason, Dympna will try to be flexible for genuine emergencies, please just get in touch as soon as you can.
If we need to cancel or reschedule a session (for example due to illness, an emergency, or unforeseen studio closure), we will give as much notice as possible and offer an alternative session or full credit/refund.
4. Health, safety and suitability
Before your first session, you will be asked to complete a health screening / PAR-Q (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire).
You must tell us about any changes to your health, injuries, surgery, or medical conditions before each class, as these may affect the exercises that are suitable for you.
Reformer Pilates is generally suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities, including ante- and post-natal clients, but you should check with your GP or consultant if you are pregnant, recovering from surgery, or have an ongoing medical condition, and let Dympna know before booking.
You take part in sessions at your own risk. Dympna will guide and adapt exercises appropriately, but you are responsible for telling us if something doesn't feel right during a session, and for working within your own limits.
5. Studio etiquette
Please arrive in comfortable, fitted activewear and wear grip socks. These are required on the reformer for safety and hygiene.
Please arrive on time. Arriving significantly late may mean you miss part of the warm-up and, for safety, you may not be able to join a session already in progress.
The studio is also Dympna's home. She has a cat, who is not permitted in the studio, but please let her know in advance if you have an allergy or any concern so this can be managed.
Please treat the studio, equipment, and other clients with respect and courtesy.
6. Liability
We take reasonable care to provide a safe environment and properly maintained equipment, and Dympna holds relevant qualifications and insurance for teaching reformer Pilates. However, to the fullest extent permitted by law, Power in Pilates and Dympna Haywood are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from your participation in a class or session, except where this is caused by our negligence or a failure to meet our legal obligations to you.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
7. Changes to the timetable or instructor
We aim to run the published class timetable as advertised, but occasionally classes may need to be rescheduled, combined, or covered due to holidays, illness, or other circumstances. Where possible, we will give advance notice and offer an alternative session.
8. Memberships and packages
Where a membership, class pack, or package is offered, its own specific terms (number of sessions, validity period, and any renewal or expiry rules) will be confirmed at the time of purchase and will sit alongside these general Terms.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in how the studio operates. The current version will always be available on our website and continuing to book or attend sessions after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
